A small courtyard garden in Belgravia, London SW1: in conjunction with extensive works to the house, I was asked to design a small internal courtyard that linked the main house, new extension and former undertakers workshop at the rear. We used Portland roachstone for the paving, stone seat and quoinings around the undercroft. To conserve space, and as a display when the courtyard wasn’t being used, I put a series of jets in the centre of the space that shot up through the paving slabs. The wall sculpture I commissioned from Richard Aumonier who also made the stone bench.
