A small front and rear garden in Notting Hill, London: Mark Lutyens and Catherine FitzGerald were asked to design and make entirely new gardens around an extensively restored house. Deep excavations and the need to protect the roots of a large lime tree in the adjacent communal garden created special conditions and requirements for drainage, irrigation and soil depths yet, despite the many constraints, the results were very pretty.
