A small rear garden in Chelsea, London sw10: in conjunction with extensive renovations to the house, I was asked to design a new garden on two levels connected by a generous flight of steps. The colour scheme was green and white and the style minimalist. I used Portland limestone on the lower level and steps, and iroko decking on the higher level to emphasise the difference. The planting was mostly loose-clipped box and star jasmine on the walls and trellis.
